Restored rare 1949 Chris Craft 22 foot Sportsman U-22 with original Hercules M 130hp engine still sporting its original Zenith 63 series carburetor, has been converted to 12 volt. One of the most popular and successful models of Chris Craft offered following WWII, the U-22 Sportsman was a perfect blend of form and function. A roomy boat at 22 feet in length, she could accommodate 8 passengers comfortably and perform well, all the same. The most well-known U-22 is “Thayer IV” from the movie “On Golden Pond”. This example offered for sale has been fully restored. Total Production was 2082 built over its nine-year production span from 1946-1954. Current owner actually did some work on this boat in early 2018 and proceeded to purchased it outright the end of 2019. Hull number for this gorgeous girl is U-22-1619. Each year these last couple of years the current older owner has had less time to spend on the water with this exquisite beauty so has decided to sell. Restoration was done in 2004 by noted boat restorer Bill Wykoff in Visalia, CA and included a complete new West System bottom, the deck was restored, the hull spiffed up and miscellaneous work was done to keel, floorboards, step pads, steering wheel, etc. Hercules motor was also rebuilt in 2004, currently has about 80 hours total and retains original hull # on frame rails on inside starboard of engine compartment (engine log). Currently uses 2 newer electric bilge pumps. All the gauges work and is equipped with an air horn. Includes 1 brand new (still in plastic) 16” x 24” premium polyester ensign flag and 1 brand new (still in plastic) Chris Craft red straight pennant 9 ¾” x 20” (currently there is no stern light pole). In 2018 it was completely refinished again including sanded, varnished and restriping done. There are 2 folders of paperwork containing info/receipts dating back to 1949 and includes all 6 previous owners since new along with info from the Mariner's Museum in Newport News, Virginia. Also included is a rare original 1949 64 page 8 ½” x 11” color cover magazine style catalog/brochure (excellent condition), 4 smaller reproduction operators/introduction manuals (all excellent condition), a hardcover 9 ½” x 12 ¼” 2005 Chris Craft Antique Boats / Mahogany Memories (144 pages) by Turner Publishing Company (excellent condition) and some older/vintage boat magazines and brochures/pamphlets. Includes matching towels, throw cushions and life vests. This magnificent beauty is transported on a 1996 TRAILMASTER tandem axle trailer with reproduction 1956 Oldsmobile hubcaps and brand new tires (less than 200 miles). All paperwork is in hand and up to date. Upon purchase this elegant ride is immediately ready to head straight to the water to be enjoyed. Boat is currently stored in Three Rivers, CA 93271.
