1979 Boston Whaler Montauk 17 (excellent freshwater original)

This two-owner, freshwater, low hour original Montauk was located near Cleveland, Ohio and acquired from the second owner. The Montauk was purchased brand new from a BW dealer near Port Clinton, Ohio and exclusively on Lake Erie. She has never seen saltwater or spent a night in the water and always stored inside a garage on her original EZ Loader trailer. She was used 2-3 times per year for the day from 1979-2017 and has been in heated storage since. She is equipped with her original 1979 Johnson Javelin V-4 100hp outboard equipped with power trim/tilt, electric start/choke, OMC tachometer, OMC trim/tilt gauge, OMC voltmeter, and OMC temperature gauge. The motor has 120 psi compression across all 4 cylinders. The OMC V-4 motors are known for their reliability and are highly desirable for the classic 17’ hull due to their very high power/weight ratio. The V-4s have a reputation as one of OMC’s best outboards ever produced. The Johnson has been fully serviced (water pump, spark plugs, fuel filters, thermostats, ultrasonic carb clean & sync, gear oil, etc.). The Johnson and is excellent mechanical and cosmetic condition with zero rust/corrosion while retaining glossy original paint. This Montauk is a rare find in this condition. The 17’ Montauk came equipped standard with 10” side railings, full bow railing, reversible pilot seat with bottom cushion, combination bow light/chock assembly, Ritchie Navigator flush mount compass and stainless-steel pole stern light. This Montauk was optioned through Whaler with a 72qt Igloo cooler with seat cushion forward of the console, recessed fire extinguisher holder, and rare large “Whaler” decals. Additional options include a Garmin fish finder, a pair of Rubbermaid 52 qt coolers, fold down stainless steel boarding ladder, bilge pump canvas covers for the console and reversible pilot seat and full mooring/trailer cover. The original EZ Loader heavy duty trailer is in excellent condition with new bunks, radial tires, hubs, bearing buddies and lighting system. This Montauk is nearly perfect, turnkey, and ready to be enjoyed today. This Montauk is all original and has not been restored.
