Description:

RARE COMPLETE & EXC! COND! Vintage 1930s-40s PIT Card Game,  Bear & Bull Edition (I have more pics showing both sides of all cards and more, just ask and I will send the pics.) I researched the PIT game on eBay for about 2 hours, I did not know there are so many versions starting in 1904 up to I guess the present day, or at least 2004 when the 100 year anniversary edition came out. From my research so far, I am fairly certain this particular game/version dates to the 1930s-40s and is all original and fully complete.  The game instructions manual has "copyright 1919" (see manual pic/s), and this copyright date probably did not change until the next instructions manual copyright date of 1947, therefore this game dates to pre-1947, best I can say. Also in my research I found only 2 types of pit men scenario illustrations that are on each card; this game has the second more modern era/type pit men characters/clothes circa 1940. The first/older more old-fashioned type pit men/clothes card illustration may have stopped sometime in the late 1920s? You can find both types of pit men card illustrations if you search ebay, or ask me to send you pics of the two versions. The box design is very Art Deco looking, another indication this game dates to the 1930s-40s. I can't guarantee the age or completeness of this game at this time, but I would guess all or most of my information here is accurate, correct. GAME COMPONENTS AND CONDITION- 1 cardboard game box, measures 5.5" by 4" by 7/8th inch tall, with separate inner divider insert in great condition- very clean/no stains or tares, only some minor rub wear on the box top corners, and only some very slight age wear overall; hard to find this version of the game box in this good of condition, see all box pics. 66 total cards- 63 main game cards, the Bull and Bear card, and the advertisement TOURING and ROOK card, see pics. The front and backside of each/all cards is shown, see all pics. I would say all the cards are in squeaky clean like never used condition, no bends, wrinkles, marks, stains, tares, nothing. (The Bull and Bear card are marked "copyright 1904" when the game first came out; the illustration style/type of the bull and bear head did not change at all for decades that I can tell.) 1 main paper RULES instruction sheet, two sided, see the front and backside pics. There is a visible fold line, see pics. Very clean, no stains, no bad wrinkles, no tares, no hand writing/markings. 1 paper BULL and BEAR edition rules/instructions sheet, two sided, see last pics. Same great condition as the above main rules sheet. IN CONCLUSION-  If I am correct in describing this game, maybe it should not be used ever again, and displayed only?? I wonder if there is a game museum somewhere, certainly there are websites featuring excellent/mint condition vintage games, which I have not looked for yet. Please ask any questions or send any comments, thanks!
