There is no decal or stamp to prove it's a Puch but most likely is. This is the "lightweight" model shown on page 497 of the 1970 Sears catalog: https://christmas.musetechnical.com/ShowCatalogPage/1970-Sears-Spring-Summer-Catalog/0497 Our servicing included a multi-step cleaning process, parts inspection, relubrication, bearing adjustment, tune up shifting, brakes adjusted, minor wheel truing, and polishing. Mechanical condition indicators are excellent - original parts bear evidence of low use/low miles. Fair cosmetics - paint intact w/ some fading, minor scratches, a few small spots bare metal; by no means does it require a repaint. Has some cleaning scratches and minor pitting on chrome parts from rust removal - but no chrome loss. Undented, unscratched metal chain guard; only minor wear on the pedal treads, tires, chain, and front brake pads - all believed to be original parts. Tires could be replaced for age and some cracking, though they hold air a long time between refills and roll quite nicely. Operation notes - Shifting - to shift a vintage 3 speed, stop pedaling (coast) a second, select the gear at the shifter, then resume pedaling; you can also change gears while stopped or back pedaling. The gear range is good for flat to rolling terrain, adequate for easier hills. Braking - both the front hand brake and rear foot brake can independently stop the bike if used properly, and maintained in optimal adjustment. Safety tips - riders used to a derailleur/freewheeling bike must consciously retrain themselves NOT to back-pedal from habit or carelessness - activating a powerful foot brake when not intended can be hazardous in certain conditions. As with any vintage 3 speed, never stand up to pedal always remain seated - although uncommon it can happen the gear may slip into neutral if there is a mis-click at the shifter or if the system gets slightly out of adjustment. Service Notes - Gear shifting adjustment - the last three photos show the correct pull-chain positions for each gear selection on the Sachs system: 1st gear with 8 chain pins visible; 2nd gear with seven chain pins visible; and 3rd gear with 5 pins visible; cable tension is adjusted precisely to obtain these alignments. Note this differs from both the Sturmey Archer and Shimano vintage 3 speed system. Other maintenance tips can be shared at the showing.
