Both shelves can be taken out or stacked in the bottom of the top in order to put a television inside the unit. Back has slide out panel for cords if using for TV, DVD player, audio equipment, gaming consoles, etc. Doors fold all the way around to the sides for easy access inside. My sons used while growing up for books, school supplies, art projects and sports clothing. Unit comes in 2 separate pieces. Bottom half begins right above the drawers.
