Description:

New Framed Kuna Mola Panamanian Fabric Animal Wall Art Bunnies/Rabbits A+ I purchased this on the boat leaving Panama Canal from a Kuna Indian. I had it professionally framed and never hung it. It is a joyful piece of art. The textile is done in vibrant orange, green, yellow and other colors. It depicts 7 adorable rabbits/bunnies in a playful scene. Each is outlined in a different color. The framed art is 18¼" wide and 13¼" tall. There is 2 small discolorations in the white fabric as noted in the photos. This is part of the natural fabric. Molas are handmade using a reverse appliqué technique. Several layers of different-coloured cloth are sewn together; the design is then formed by cutting away parts of each layer. The edges of the layers are then turned under and sewn down. Often, the stitches are nearly invisible. This is achieved by using a thread the same color as the layer being sewn, sewing blind stitches, and sewing tiny stitches.
